Government College of Education, Jammu hosts interactive session

JAMMU, Oct 7: The Government College of Education, Jammu, organized an engaging and thought-provoking interactive session titled "Teachers of Future" as part of its ongoing two-week Induction-cum-Orientation Program for the Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP). The session focused on preparing future educators to meet the demands of a rapidly changing educational landscape.
The event began with a welcome address by Aditi Sharma, a student of the ITEP course. Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of ITEP, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. J.N. Baliya, a Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the Central University of Jammu. Dr. Baliya's extensive experience and deep understanding of education systems added immense value to the session.
In his address, Dr. Baliya discussed the theme "Teachers of Future," emphasizing the evolving role of educators in the 21st century. He highlighted the need for adaptability and continuous professional development in a world where the dynamics of education are constantly shifting. His insights encouraged lively discussions among participants about the role of future teachers in fostering critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability among students.
Dr. Baliya also referenced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on its key recommendations for teacher education. He emphasized how the policy aims to transform teacher preparation programs to better equip educators for the challenges of modern classrooms. According to him, the reforms outlined in NEP 2020 will play a pivotal role in ensuring that future teachers can effectively contribute to nation-building. The interactive session left participants with valuable takeaways about the future of teaching, urging them to embrace change and develop skills that will allow them to thrive in diverse and dynamic educational settings.
The two-week Induction-cum-Orientation Program at the Government College of Education is designed to familiarize students with the objectives and structure of the ITEP, while also providing them with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The Worthy Principal of the college Dr Jyoti Parihar honored Dr. J.N. Baliya by presenting a memento as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution to the session. Following the presentation, students Harshita, Shranya, and Nadita provided feedback on the session, expressing their reflections on the key takeaways and how it has inspired them to shape their approach to becoming future-ready educators. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shalini Rana Convener IQAC, expressing gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, and students for their participation and engagement. Also present on the occasion were Prof. Satish Kumar, Dr. Suraj Parkash, and Dr. Ambica, who contributed to the success of the event with their valuable presence. Simran, a student of ITEP, served as the rapporteur for the session and Muskan conducted the proceedings of the programme.
