| Zardari for resuming dialogue with India | | | Agencies Islamabad, March 28: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday hoped to soon resume Composite Dialogue between Islamabad and New Delhi, and insisted that Indo-Pak ties should be improved.
In a bid to ease tensions with India following 26/11, Zardari has even assured that Islamabad is working to bring those behind Mumbai attacks to justice.
A day after US President Barack Obama urged the Congress to pass a bill for USD 1.5 billion in aid for Pakistan, Zardari described it as a "positive change". “I welcome President Obama's call to Congress to pass the Kerry-Lugar bill”, he said.
“Pakistan will not allow the use of our soil against any other state. Similarly, we will not allow any violation of our sovereignty,” he added, referring apparently to US drone attacks inside Pakistani territory.
Zardari further tried to mend fences with the opposition parties, as he backed national reconciliation. He further insisted on forgetting past bitterness.
The Pakistan President had to witness anti-government protests in the last few weeks and eventually accede to the demands of restoring Chief Justice Iftikhar M Chaudhary and other deposed judges.
Zardari further vowed to recommend lifting of Governor's Rule in Punjab and support PML-N candidate for chief ministership.
Zardari had precipitated a political crisis in late February by imposing the central government rule in Pakistan's largest province after the Supreme Court disqualified former premier Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother, Shahbaz, from holding elected office.
