| ECTA to observe pen down strike on April 2 | | | Early Times report Jammu, March 28: In continuation to its agitational programme for implementation of pay rules as per All India Council for Technical Education, (AICTE) norms, the Government Engineering College Teacher’s Association,(ECTA) Jammu has decided to observe one day pen down strike on April 2, 2009. The ECTA members have earlier observed one day token strike on March 26.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of ECTA held under the presidentship of Rajiv Bali. Addressing the members Rajiv Bali, president ECTA, said that GCET faculty is struggling for the implementation of AICTE pay rules for last 14 years and have submitted memorandas to various functionaries of the government but nothing has been done in this regard forcing them to adopt agitational path. He said that ECTA has been pursuing the Govt. for correction in SRO-61 framing the Pay Rules which was partial and did not provide justice to the upper teaching cadre, but the file has been pending in the Finance department for last two years. Bali said that if the government did not take their plea seriously, the teaching faculty of GCET would be forced to further intensify their agitation. The meeting was attended by all the members of ECTA.
