New J&K Govt will take oath after approval from Union Cabinet
10/12/2024 10:26:20 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 12: Although the designated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah handed over a letter of support to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and staked a claim for the formation of a coalition regime in Jammu and Kashmir, the date of the oath-taking ceremony will be held after the approval of the Union Cabinet.
As per the procedure of the Union Territory, after getting letters of support from the designated Chief Minister the Lieutenant Governor would write to the Rashtrapati in this regard
The Rashtrapati Bhawan will further write to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the lifting of President Rule from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
After getting a letter from the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Ministry of Home Affairs will seek legal opinion from the Law Ministry regarding the lifting of the President’s Rule from Union Territory.
After getting legal opinion from the Law Minitry, the Ministry of Home Affairs will place the matter before the Union Cabinet for approval. The Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a decision in this regard and approve the lifting of the President’s Rule from Jammu and Kashmir.
The matter will back through the mill and finally, the date of the oath-taking ceremony will be held.
Important to mention here that on Friday, Omar Abdullah said that the oath ceremony will take time, as it is not a case of one elected government simply transferring power to another.
“Being a Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir is directly under central rule. As a process, the Lieutenant Governor has to prepare the documents and send them to Rashtrapati Bhavan first. From there, they will go to the Home Ministry.
After the Home Ministry completes its process, the documents will be returned.
It is believed that the process will take two to three days”, Omar said, adding “We are hoping that the oath ceremony will be held on Wednesday”.
