Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 13: The prestigious INTACH Heritage Quiz (City Round) 2024, hosted by Jodhamal Public School, Jammu, brought together a gathering of bright young minds from prominent Schools of Jammu under one roof. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), established in 1984, has long been a vanguard in promoting awareness and preservation of India's rich cultural legacy. Today, it stands as one of the largest heritage organizations globally, boasting over 190 chapters across the country.
The Quiz is envisaged as a learning experience for students and through each Quiz, knowledge about INTACH and its scope of work in the field is shared with students to encourage the spirit of volunteering in them. The city rounds of quiz are followed by the State and National rounds which will be held outside Jammu, subsequently.
With 22 schools represented by 72 teams and 144 students, the event served as a platform to immerse themselves in heritage learning, aiming to kindle a spirit of volunteerism and deepen their understanding of Indian culture and INTACH's mission. The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished Chief Guest, Robin Singh Mehta, JKAS (Retd), and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Pragya Khanna, Principal, Govt. Visual rounds added to the excitement, keeping both participants and audience on the edge of their seats.
The team from KC Public School emerged victorious, clinching the first position. Jodhamal Public School followed closely, securing the second position. The Chief Guest, in his address, exhorted all participants to continue to exhibit their inclination for preservation of heritage, as worthy stewards of both tangible and intangible heritage.
