Rajesh Mukhi embarks on prestigious pre-Everest expedition to Ama Dablam Peak

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 13: Rajesh Mukhi, a seasoned mountaineer and a prominent member of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, departed today for Nepal to participate in a prestigious pre-Everest expedition to Ama Dablam Peak (6,826m). This challenging climb is a significant step in his preparation for scaling Mount Everest in 2025, the world's highest peak.
Rajesh will join a multinational team organized by the reputed mountaineering company, Pioneer Adventure Ltd., Nepal. The company will manage all logistics and provide technical support throughout the expedition, ensuring a smooth and safe experience for the participants.
The Mountaineering Association of J&K has been working on an ambitious project over the past two years to prepare its mountaineers for high-altitude expeditions, with the ultimate goal of sending one of their own to the summit of Mount Everest in 2025. As part of this initiative, J&K mountaineers have already trekked to the base camp of Mount Everest, Mount Cho Oyu (an 8,000m peak), and have summitted other peaks in the Everest region to familiarize themselves with the harsh conditions of such treks.
Due to the steep costs associated with pre-Everest expeditions (Rs. 7 lakh per participant) and Everest expeditions (Rs. 40 lakh per participant), the Association has chosen to send only one mountaineer, Rajesh Mukhi, to the Ama Dablam peak this October. This will serve as a critical precursor to his Everest expedition scheduled for April-May 2025.
Rajesh Mukhi is a highly experienced and trained mountaineer, with an impressive track record that includes scaling the highest peak in Antarctica, Mount Vinson, as well as Island Peak in the Everest region, along with other formidable climbs.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, President of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, and Shawetica Khajuria, the Association's General Secretary, along with the members of District Mountaineering Associations of J&K, have extended their best wishes to Rajesh for a successful and safe expedition.
Rajesh's participation in this expedition marks an important milestone in the Association's efforts to position J&K mountaineers on the global mountaineering stage.
