| Hindi play ‘Kahani Ek Kuttey Ki’ presented in Natrang Theatre Festival | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 28-On the third day of Natrang Theatre Festival, Balwant Thakur’s Hindi play ‘Kahani Ek Kuttey Ki’ was staged at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. Natrang has organized a six day festival to commemorate World Theatre Day celebrations. This hard hitting satire on the establishment was able to evoke good response from the audience. The play Kahani Ek Kuttey Ki adapted and directed by Balwant Thakur was based on the story of Anton Chekov and its plot revolves around a corrupt police officer who changes colors like a chameleon. The action starts when a dog bites a pickpocket, who approaches the police officer to get him the handsome claim from the owner of the dog. The cops begin to search the owner, but in vain. A passerby hints that the dog may belong to the local minister as he saw a similar dog at his place. On getting this clue the officer starts beating the pickpocket for teasing the dog. The officer claims that the dog of a minister cannot bite unless and until prompted to do so. While he is beating the pickpocket, another man from the crowd while looking at the dog says that the local minister cannot keep such a dog, who is known for having pointer hunter dogs. Here the dog is thrashed and search continues for the owner of the dog enabling the pickpocket to get his claim. The beating of the dog by the cops continue till a servant of the minister appears in the scene, who in the first instance refuses to recognize but later identifies as the guest of the minister who has come to the minister’s place with his brother from Delhi. Mohit Sharma played the lead role of corrupt officer and able portrayed the changing colors of the character. He was supported brilliantly by Rohit Verma, Gaurav Jamwal, Hemant Bholla, Rahul Singh, Aman Khullar, Mayank Bakshi, Mohammed Yaseen, and Hira Deep Singh.
