Early Times Report
KARGIL, Oct 13: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) bike rally, organized in celebration of World Standards Day 2024, made a significant stop at Kargil, paying tribute to the soldiers of the Kumaon Regiment. The rally, which began in Jammu, covered key locations including the War Memorial, Helipad, Heritage Hut Museum, and Major Randhawa Top, offering participants the chance to visit the renowned Point 13620 peak. This visit showcased the rugged terrain where the Indian Army operates, honoring the resilience of the nation's defenders.
Led by Tilak Raj, Head of BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), the BIS officials rode through scenic yet challenging routes, spreading awareness about the crucial role of standardization in everyday life. The rally emphasized the importance of quality, safety, and sustainability through the application of standards, drawing attention to their impact on the products and services we rely on daily.
During the visit to the Kargil War Memorial, BIS officials took the opportunity to engage with the soldiers, briefing them on the role of BIS in safeguarding product standards. Tilak Raj noted, "Just as soldiers guard our borders, BIS guards the quality of the products we use, including the bulletproof vests protecting our soldiers."
Pankaj Atri, Joint Director of BIS JKBO, highlighted the rally's core message, stating, "World Standards Day celebrates the power of standardization. This rally embodies our pledge to uphold the values of quality, safety, and sustainability, not just in products, but in life." Having covered hundreds of kilometers, the BIS bike rally continues its mission to promote standardization while paying tribute to the nation's heroes, underscoring the connection between strong standards and a stronger, safer India.
