24th J&K UT Sport Climbing Championship to Take Place in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 14: The 24th Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Sport Climbing Championship will be held at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu, from 25th to 26th October 2024. Organized by the Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, this prestigious event is expected to witness fierce competition among nearly 300 climbers from various districts including Anantnag, Badgam, Kishtwar, Shopian, and more.
Competitors, including national medalists, will participate in six categories based on age groups: Men, Women, Junior Boys/Girls, and Sub Junior Boys/Girls. The championship will serve as a selection event for the J&K UT team, which will compete in the 28th North Zone Sport Climbing Championship scheduled to be held in Delhi in November 2024.
Adhering to International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) standards, the competition will feature fresh international standard climbing equipment, with technical support provided by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee. International Sport Climbing Judge Mitra Ghosh will serve as the President of the Jury, while local officials will collaborate with national-level experts for the smooth execution of the event.
Sonam Sidharth, General Secretary of District Mountaineering Association, Jammu, has been appointed as the Organizing Secretary, overseeing the arrangements for the championship.
