| 20 latest Gojri publications released at 2-day Gojri cultural conference | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Mar 28- Two day Gojri ethno-cultural conference organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was inaugurated here at Town Hall, today by eminent spiritual leader Padam Bhushan Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi. More than 300 prominent writers, poets, artists, intellectuals and observers from all over the State and adjoining Northern States of India are participating in this prestigious event being organized after the gap of two years. In his inaugural address Mian Bashir Ahmed said that since 1947 Gujjars are fighting a full-fledged war for their existence. He impressed upon the intellectuals and writers of Gujjars community to chalk out a strategy for future and act upon vigorously and forcefully. He said the Gojri is one of the ancient languages of India and we have to jointly work for its preservation and propagation. Javaid Rahi, Head of Gojri wing of State Academy stated that we are expecting tangible results from this Conference. He said that Gojri wing of Academy has devised a two way plan to develop the Gojri in a time frame manner. On the one side we are publishing the rare of the rarest books of Gojri and modern literature and on the other hand we are working on a prestigious project where under 50 world classics of English, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit to be rendered into Gojri till 2010. Earlier welcoming the guests , Zaffar Iqbal Manhas , Secretary Academy said that main objective of this conference is to provide a platform to writers of Gojri language so that they can be able to think about the future of this important tribal languages of India. He said that Academy has published thousands of books in Gojri adding that since the establishment of this wing in the Academy we are working hard for its development in a big way. Eminent historian and scholar of Gojri language K D Chopra in key note address stated that the major initiative is required from all sections of Gujjar society so that a movement should be started in a big way for inclusion of Gojri into the 8th Scheduled of Indian Constitution. He said the Gujjar must take a queue from Duggras in this regard. He also impressed upon the writer community to work jointly and in an organized manner for overall development of Gojri Language and Culture. As many as 20 latest publications of Gojri were released on the occasion which included Gojri Translations of Biography of Mahatma Gandhi, Gulistan-e-sadi , Gojri , Dewan-e-Nazir Ahmed Nazir, Dewan-e-Shamim, Golden Jubilee number of Sheraza Gojri , Mahro adab, Kalam-e- Khuda Baksh Zar, Qadawr on Mehir Din Qammar and others. A play “Eid Ko Chan” written and directed by Shoukat Naseem was also staged by Asar Dramatic Club Kalakote Rajouri pon the occasion.
