Awareness lecture on career opportunity in of music held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Oct 14: In order to create awareness among the students, the Music Department of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur organized an awareness lecture on the topic "Career Opportunities in the Field of Music" under the supervision of Head of the Music Department, Dr. Seema Sharma. The programme was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania.
Resource Person of the programmee, Mr. Yash Kumar, Assistant Professor in Music Department of Music GCW Udhampur. Dr. Seema Sharma encouraged the students to participate in such employment opportunities in the field of music. HoD Music said that to make a career in the field of music, you will have to learn music with great dedication and only by acquiring knowledge of music, you can make a good career in the field of music.
Yash Kumar aware the students about the various job opportunities available in the field of music. He said that the field of music has opened up many career avenues. He informed that one can become a musician or a performance artist or even a music teacher. And while we all understand the importance of music education, the youth of today need to be made aware of these options available in the field of music, he added.
Resource Person said that the options for a person who wishes to pursue a career in music are endless. Here are some broad categories in which one can pursue a career such as Musician/Performing Artist, Individual Singer/Band Member, Musical Instrument Player in any capacity including Brass, Percussion, Wind, Strings or Keyboard and Composer.
He said that there are many other fields in music in which one can make a career, like music teacher in government and private school, band/choir/orchestra, private music instructor etc.
Yash Kumar also added that another very popular area of career opportunity in the field of music is in the field of Radio/TV/Film - you can be a Radio Jockey/Video Jockey/Disc Jockey, Music Editor, Music Director, Audio Producer apart from Music Therapist, Lyricist/Composer, Music Critic and Music Journalist etc.
The proceedings of the programme were initiated by Youshika Kumari a student of Semester 5th .
