JU's Display Your Talent in a new format inaugurated at GPGC Rajouri

JAMMU, Oct 15: The University of Jammu's Display Your Talent-Zone Wise, a new format of the flagship Display Your Talent program, was inaugurated today at Government P.G. College, Rajouri. This new initiative, envisioned by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, and approved by the Academic Council, aims to increase participation from colleges in remote areas in cultural and literary activities while promoting regional culture. The Department of Students Welfare, as the nodal office, will organize this event across five zones of Jammu Province - Pir Panjal Zone (Rajouri-Poonch, GPGC Rajouri), Tawi Zone (Jammu - MIER College of Education), Chenab Zone (Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban- Bhaderwah Campus, JU), Devika Zone (Udhampur, Reasi - Udhampur Campus, JU), and Raavi Zone (Kathua-Samba, - Kathua Campus, JU).
The inaugural event for the Pir Panjal Zone, being hosted by GPGC Rajouri under the supervision of Dr. K.K. Sharma, Principal of the college, was held today. Dignitaries present at the inaugural event included Dr. A.R. Manhas, Dr. Mohd. Iqbal Raina, Dr. Vimal Kishore, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, and Dr. Sanjay Kalotra, along with faculty members, cultural committee members, and students from participating colleges. This mega event offers around 27 competitions in music, dance, literary, fine arts, and theatrical activities. Winners from these zonal events will qualify to participate in the Display Your Talent (Inter-Zonal) competition at the University campus.
The success of this new format is evident, with participation from approximately 175 students from 10 colleges, including GPGC Rajouri, GDC Surankote, GDC Nowshera, GDC Kalakote, GDC Thannamandi, GDC Mendhar, GDC Kotranka, GDC Budhal, GDC Darhal, and GDC Poonch. In previous years, participation from the Pir Panjal Zone was limited to just 3-4 students.
All zonal-level Display Your Talent events are being organized under the stewardship of Prof. Prakash C. Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, and overseen by Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee and Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, with collaboration from the rectors and principals of the host institutions. The events are coordinated by Dr. Pritam Singh, Associate Dean SW, Dr. Shallu Sharma, Dr. A.R. Manhas, Deputy Chief Proctors, Dr. Harleen Kaur, Dr. Ripudaman Parihar, Assistant Deans SW, Mansi Mantoo, Media Officer, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Ifra Kak,Cultural Officer, Kulbhushan Thakur, and Arif Paul.
