KATHUA, Oct 15: Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta, with team of officers paid visit to Paddy procurement centres of Bhajwal, Nagri, Keerian and Palli to inspect the paddy procurement operations and functioning of Procurement Centres.
Sanjeev Rai Gupta, CAO Kathua said, the Department of Agriculture, Kathua in collaboration with Food Corporation of India has operationalized 11 paddy procurement Centres at Bhajwal, Keerian, Nagri, Jakhbar-Padiyari, Palli, Kunde Chack, Mukandpur, Dhanni- Bakhta, Marheen, Chann Arorian and Dungara to ease the transportation of Paddy Harvested by farmer to the nearest Procurement Centre of their choice.
He said, "Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies have under taken Paddy procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) to create a buffer stock as well as protect the interest of farmers. The farmers will be given support price at the rate of Rs 2300 for the common paddy variety and Rs 2320 for Grade "A" Variety. During his visit, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua instructed the officials at paddy procurement centres to cooperate with the farmers and act a bridge between Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Farmers for better services to farming community.
Sh. Murari Lal, District Agriculture Officer (Ext) Kathua, Sh. Parshotam Gupta, SDAO Kathua, Sh. Parmod Kumar AEO Kathua and concerned Officials also accompanied Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua.
