Workshop on Role of Physical Education organised

JAMMU, Oct 17: The State Council of Educational Research and Training, Divisional Office Jammu, successfully conducted a 02 day workshop on the role of Physical Education in Vocationalization of Education in J&K at SCERT J&K, Divisional Office Jammu w.e.f. 16th to 17th October, 2024.
The program, organized under the aegis of the Department of Art Education and Vocational Education, Academic Unit-I brought together 30 Physical Education Teachers across the various zones of Jammu District.
The workshop aimed at exploring the potential of Physical Education as a significant component in vocational education, focusing on equipping students with practical skills, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and highlighting career opportunities in sports and fitness industries. The event also emphasized the importance of aligning physical education programs with vocational training to address the region's educational and economic needs.
The workshop featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and hands-on activities, encouraging participants to share best practices and innovative approaches for integrating physical education into vocational curricula. Participants also discussed the challenges and opportunities in implementing these programs, particularly in the context of Jammu and Kashmir.
The program was inaugurated by Prof.(Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor Joint Director SCERT Divisional Office Jammu. Mr. Chamel Singh PEM, Govt. Polytechnic College, Jammu and Mr. Ramandeep Kralia, Physical Director GCOE, Jammu, were the resource persons of the workshop.
The programme was coordinated by Yogesh Kumar (AO) and Pooja Sharma (Sr. AO) acted as Associate Coordinator. The programme was managed by the faculty of SCERT, Ashok Kumar, Sabah Rasheed, Farhat John, Meenakshi Chandan, Pratibha Jamwal, Madhu Sharma, Dr. Seema Zakir, and Amit Sharma.
Joint Director, SCERT, Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, presided over the valedictory function in the presence of Head Academic Unit-I Mtr. Sultana Kouser and Shailesh Kumari alongwith other faculty members of SCERT Jammu. She impressed upon the participants to play an active role in promoting holistic development of students for various career paths in sports, fitness, and related industries. Moreover, she added that physical activities improve mental health as well as academic performance also.
The program ended with a vote of thanks by Pooja Sharma, Sr. Academic Officer. Certificates of appreciation were distributed among all the participants and resource persons.
