| Over 40,000 devotees pay obeisance at Chountra Mata | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Mar 29- Despite rains over 40,000 devotees from various parts of Udhampur, Kathua, Samba districts and parts of Jammu province visited Mahamaya Chountra Mata situated on a hillock between village Rangh-Bulandh and Thial villages in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district today on the occasion of 3rd Navratra. The Akhand Jyoti of Mahamaya Chountra Mata which was lit at Narsingh Ji temple Ramnagar on March, 27 on Ist Navratra was taken to the shrine in a colourful procession followed by thousands of devotees attired in colourful dresses chanting bhajan and kirtan. To make the festival more impressive, a team of local artists sponsored by the District Information Centre, Udhampur presented a scintillating cultural programme on the occasion which remained the main highlight of the day for thousands of devotees of Mahamaya Chountra Mata. On the occasion folk artists presented bhajans, dogri folk songs and dances in their local style which was highly appreciated by the audience present on the occasion. The administration had made elaborate arrangements of security, drinking water, power supply; medicare etc, besides various social organizations from various parts of Jammu province had also arranged free pandals for the facilities of the devotees. Mahamaya Chountra Mata Management Committee also organized a bhandara on the occasion.
