Display Your Talent, Pir Panjal Zone successfully culminated

JAMMU, Oct 18: The three days zonal level "Display Your Talent" competitions concluded with Valedictory function at Government P.G. College, Rajouri on 17th of October 2024.
The event for the Pir Panjal Zone was inaugurated at Government P.G. College, Rajouri on 15th of Oct. 2024 by Dr. K. K. Sharma, Principal of the College. The zone-wise Display Your Talent was envisioned by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu, aimed to encourage wider participation of students from remote areas in cultural and literary activities. It also sought to provide a platform for the youth to represent and celebrate the art, culture, and heritage of their respective regions.
The Event was initiated by Prof. Prakash C. Anthal, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu and coordinated by Prof. Monika Chadda, Chairperson Campus Culture Committee, Prof. Sarika Manhas Co-Chairperson Campus Culture Committee and Dr. Hema Gandotra NSS Programme Coordinator University of Jammu acted as overall teacher incharge Peer Panjal Zone.
The whole event was presided over by Dr. K.K. Sharma, Principal of the College, who was also supervising this series of three days events at the Pir Panjal Zonal Level.
In the first day on Tuesday, the inaugural session commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge. The event was attended by several distinguished guests and Distinguish Panel of Judges including Dr. Ab. Rashid Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctor, University of Jammu) & Dr. Vimal Kishore.
Dr. Ab. Rashid Manhas delivered a motivating speech on the event's significance and Jammu University's dedication to fostering multicultural activities. This was followed by a captivating cultural performance by Atul Gupta, Sajid Wani, and their team, which enthralled the audience.
The post-inaugural session was marked by a vibrant display of artistic talent, with students from various colleges of the Pir Panjal Zone participating in several competitions such as Light Vocal Solo, Indian Group Song Poster Making, Collage Making, Rangoli Competition, Photography Exhibition.
On 2nd day the various academic and cultural activities organised where the students from different colleges of the region displayed the talent. The day started with the welcome note followed by the activities viz. Painting, Clay Modelling, Mehandi and Debate etc.
Dr. Hema Gandotra, NSS Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor, Department of Sociology and Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-chairperson of the Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu coordinated programme on the behalf of the University of Jammu. The renowned international and national artist who acted as judges were Neeraj Kant Sharma, Dr. Kamal Sharma, Sh. Mahesh Sharma and Sh. Vijay Anand.
The jury for the debate included Prof. Rajni Bala, Head, Department of Hindi, University of Jammu, and Dr. Neena Gupta Vij, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Central University of Jammu. The students presented well-articulated arguments on various topics, showcasing their intellect and public speaking skills.
Following the debate, a captivating skit was performed by students from GDC Bhudal and GDC Poonch, which mesmerized the audience with its unique and creative presentation. The skit reflected the rich storytelling tradition of the region and was met with great applause.
The third day of the event was concluded with number of activities followed by valedictory program. It was also presided over by Dr. K.K. Sharma, Principal of the College, who supervised this series of events at the Pir Panjal Zonal Level. Several esteemed guests including Sunny Manjoor, an internationally renowned choreographer and Yogeswar Singh, a national-level choreographer attend the programme. The day began with the formal welcome note presented by Prof. M. Iqbal Raina followed by group dance, group dance folk and quiz competition. In group dance the four colleges viz. GDC Nowshera, Govt. PG College Rajouri, HEM College Rajouri and GDC Poonch participated. While in quiz the six colleges across the region have participated in which PG College Rajouri got first prize and GDC Mendhar and GDC Thannamandi respectively got 2nd and third position.
