Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 18: As part of the preparations for the National Police Day, celebrated annually on October 21st, to honour the bravery and sacrifice of our police personnel, a series of welfare activities have been organized in the Jammu Zone. All the nodal officers of the ten districts of Jammu Zone have held activities and undertaken initiatives that are aimed at supporting the families of martyrs and promoting community engagement.
These initiatives are aimed at expressing gratitude to the fallen heroes and extending support to their families, reinforcing the commitment of the police towards service and sacrifice. The activities are being conducted with patriotic fervor and involvement from all Police establishments across the Zone, including District Police Lines (DPLs).
District nodal officers have made conscious efforts in individually reaching out and meeting with the families of martyrs and others. Officers are visiting the next of kin (NOK) of martyrs to express solidarity and assure full support from the police department. Efforts are being made to address any grievances or needs raised by the families promptly. Special awareness drives are being organized in educational institutes to educate students about the role and sacrifices of police personnel. Patriotic talks are being conducted to instil respect for police martyrs among young people. Public meetings are being held to build stronger community-police relations and highlight the importance of citizen cooperation in maintaining peace and security. Community members are also encouraged to participate in such events. Police officers are organizing cleanliness drives at memorial sites, emphasizing the importance of maintaining these spaces with respect. In recognition of the sacrifices made, the families of the martyrs are also invited to the respective District Police Lines (DPLs), where solemn events will be held on October 21st to remember and honour the fallen heroes.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Jammu region, Shri Anand Jain, IPS, has on a number of occasions reiterated the commitment of the Jammu Zone Police to look after the needs and issues of all the families of our brave martyrs.
