Early Times Report

POONCH, Oct 18: The Social Welfare Department of Poonch, under the chairmanship of Social Welfare Officer wakeel Bhat, organized a one-day seminar at Dak Bungalow Poonch as part of the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan." The seminar, focusing on drug abuse, particularly among adults, highlighted early detection and prevention measures. It was attended by students from various schools across the district, along with higher officials from these institutions.
The primary objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, especially among the youth, and to encourage the broader community to take part in the campaign against substance abuse. Religious leaders of Poonch were requested to incorporate education on drug abuse in their sermons to help spread awareness at the grassroots level, reaching as many people as possible.
During the seminar, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal (IAS), who served as the chief guest, addressed the media.
He emphasized the importance of the event as part of an ongoing awareness campaign to educate the public and students about the dangers of drug use.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the level of awareness demonstrated by the students, noting that their understanding of the issue is quite advanced, which is a promising sign in the fight against drug abuse.
Other notable attendees included ADC Poonch, Tahir Mustafa, and Principal of GDC Poonch, Jasbir Singh. The event marked a significant step in the district's ongoing efforts to promote a drug-free society and highlighted the collective role of the community in tackling this pressing issue.
