Pardesi’s nomination to Council act of political corruption
Cong-NC opportunist alliance disastrous for J&K: Mufti

Early Times Report

Billawar, Mar 29-Terming the Congress-National Conference coalition, which is formed without any program and policy, as opportunist alliance, former Chief Minister and patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that both the parties have joined hands just for the lust of power.
“Such an un-programmatic alliance which is formed just for the lust of power would prove disastrous for the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he warned and reminded that it was the same Congress-National Conference alliance that had brazenly rigged the 1987 assembly elections which ultimately led to the decade long bloodshed and destruction in the State.
“One and the only aim of this alliance is to enjoy the power as this coalition has yet not publicized its agenda or the common minimum program (CMP) which is must to run a coalition”, Sayeed said while addressing a public meeting in support of party candidate Thakur Balbir Singh at his native village.
“Had the Congress and National Conference not rigged the 1987 assembly elections and allowed the democracy to flourish at that time, situation would have been different in Jammu and Kashmir”, he opined and warned the new dispensation against repeating 1987 blunder in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. He, however, hastened to add that PDP would not allow the coalition to undermine the democratic institutions in the State.
Pointing towards decision of the ruling National Conference to nominate Ghulam Qadir Pardesi in the Legislative Council, he said that this act of the government was a glaring example of political corruption. “With a fear to lose the forthcoming assembly by-election from Sonawar, the ruling National Conference leadership has lured Pardesi and this act speaks about political corruption”, he said.
“Minus Srinagar city National Conference is almost wiped out from the Kashmir Valley”, he said while giving figures of votes secured by the PDP in the whole State. “Despite having less number of seats, our party has secured more votes than National Conference”, he said and informed the gathering that NC got seats from Srinagar city due to boycott in many pockets.
Party candidate for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Thakur Balbir Singh, former Minister Manjit Singh and others addressed in the meeting in which large number of people were present despite heavy down pour.
