| Dogri play ‘Suno Eh Kahani’ staged at Natrang Theatre Festival | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 29- Balwant Thakur’s all time super hit Dogri play ‘Suno Eh Kahani’ staged here today on the 4th day of Natrang Theatre Festival. This play is considered to be one of the best plays produced by Natrang in last twenty-five years and most noteworthy feature of the play is that it always creates magical electrifying effect on the audience. Highly socially relevant play conveys a meaningful message and aims at bringing a total social revolution and out look of the society towards girl child. Natrang took the initiative to use theatre as a wheel of the social change and production and presentation of Suno Eh Kahani is one step taken in that direction. "GUDDI' central character of Suno Eh Kahani is representative of a major section of rural lower middle class adolescent young girls, who are forced into matrimony at a very tender age. Guddi is fully aware of the strains of early marriage, as it has taken its toll in untimely death of her mother. She wants to grow and get educated before she takes up the responsibility of married life. Her dreams are shattered, a 'suitable' groom is found and marriage date is fixed. While the marriage ceremonies are being performed, help comes in the form of intervention by legal authorities and decision of marriage is deferred for appropriate time. The play highlights the plight of young girls who are sacrificed at the altar of rotten, redundant customs of illiterate and ignorant sections of our society. Surbhi Sharma, a new face of Natrang, in her maiden lead performance did full justice with the role and was able to evoke some emotional pathos. The lead narrators were played by Mohit Sharma and Pankush Verma maintained their supremacy in the performance and performed extremely well. Natrang’s senior most actor, Suresh Kumar played the role of father in a highly matured manner. Gaurav Jamwal and Rohit Verma played the roles of Police Officer and the Groom with full professional hold over characters.
