| Display unity, don’t divide votes: Leela Karan to masses | | ‘Launches mass contact program’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 29- BJP candidate for Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency Leela Karan Sharma, today urged the people to get united to end 60 years discrimination at the hands of Kashmir leaders. He said that the height of discrimination can be well judged from the facts that there are 16 lakh voters for 46 assembly seats in Kashmir valley while the Jammu region which has 21 lakh voters has just 37 seats. Besides, there are only 2 seats in parliament for 34 lakh voters of Jammu while the valley has 3 seats for only 31 lakh voters. He was addressing several gatherings under mass contact program along with MLA Ch. Sukhnandan at Sangrampur, Patyalichak, Parwah, Nagwani Morh, Halka, Marh, Jaswan, Bachiyaal, Kuntwala, Gurha Singh, Shamachak, Kalyanpur, Kanachak, Lalyal, Gaitla, Galwaddey, Gajansoo, Ratanpur, Sangachak, Saharan, Lorichak, Suhagni, Chagdali, Pangori and Nai-Basti in Marh assembly constituency. The BJP candidate held the Jammu-based leaders responsible for this decades old discrimination who only befooled the people by lip service and in reality never uttered a word at any appropriate platform for due share of Jammu. Criticizing the Kashmiri leaders and political parties, which ruled the state after independence, Sharma said, ‘at election time, these leaders hoodwink the people of Jammu by making big announcements but when come to power, fail to fulfill any of the commitment’. Attacking the Congress-National Conference coalition, Sharma said that Congress party fought recent assembly election on the issue of discrimination with Jammu region even ruling National Conference had promised to look into the voice of Jammu against discrimination but during first three months tenure, this government took no steps to resolve this burning issue. "If you (people of Jammu) really want to end 6 decades’ discrimination with Jammu and getting their due share at all spheres and in all matters, then you have to unite and not to divide your vote and vote for nationalist cause and those who have guts to fight for your rights", Leela Karan said, adding, "BJP is the only party which is fighting for the cause of the Jammuites". Recalling the Amarnath agitation, he said "during this historical agitation people of every caste and creed were united for the common cause of land to SASB and aged- long discrimination, the same unity is also needed in Jammu region at political levels and elections so as to force Kashmiri leaders, state and centre government not to ignore Jammu". Sharma further said that people have seen the performance of Congress in state and centre, now the need of the hour is to bring a government which provides people of Jammu their due share, just and genuine rights. He urged the people to contribute for bringing NDA back into power and strengthening nationalist forces, defeat those forces which have repeatedly cheated and promoted the cause of anti-national elements. BJP leaders including S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Sat Sharma, Col. Uttam Singh, Suraj Padha, S. Harjit Singh and Shakti Sharma also accompanied Leela Karan Sharma during his day long hectic mass contact program of different areas of the Marh assembly constituency.
