DC reviews status of land acquisition for Govt projects

POONCH, Oct 23: To review the progress of Land acquisition for NH-144A and BRO roads coming up in Poonch District, a meeting of concerned Officers was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vikas Kundal here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The DC inquired about the status of land acquisition, total amount of compensation involved, disbursed, pending, and liability towards the intending departments.
At the outset, a threadbare discussion was held and the Deputy Commissioner was briefed about the present status of the land acquisition issues and action taken by the concerned authorities.
Several land acquisition cases were taken up in the meeting as the Deputy Commissioner sought case wise details and directed the concerned Officers to expedite the process and resolve the issues, if any, so that developmental works are completed in stipulated time.
The DC stressed on time bound disbursement of land compensation in favour of the affected land owners. He further directed for maintaining inter Department coordination for expeditious resolution of cases.
Further, the DC directed to intensify the anti encroachment drives and demolition of structures in their jurisdictions on mission mode and also remove the encroachments from public utilities.
The meeting was attended by Collector Land Acquisition Defence Poonch, Xen PWD (R&B) Surankote, Officer Commanding 79 RCC, Tehsildar Surankote and others concerned.
