| Multilingual Kavi Sammelan | | Dogri, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Pahari poets converge at K L Sehgal Hall | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30- To promote edifying and traditional ethics so as to acquaint the young generation with the thought provoking concerns, a multilingual Kavi Sammelan was organized by the Information Department at K. L. Sehgal Hall here this evening. The program was conducted by the Cultural Unit of the Information Department in collaboration with Manavi Prakashan Publishers and Nami Dogri Sanstha. Managing Director Manvi Prakashan, Indu Bhushan was the chief guest, Joint Director Information Jammu Shyam Bijyal was the guest of honour while Deputy Director Information Jammu Gulzar Ahmed Shabnam and Additional Secretary Cultural Academy Savita Bakshi were the special invitees. Senior Advocate and renowned poet S.S Anand Lehar presided over the function. Renowned and reputed Dogri, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Pahari poets of the state participated in the program and recited their verses in diverse languages awestruck the audience and mesmerized the atmosphere to the extent that the hall was filled with applause and appreciation. Their thought provoking kalams compelled the listeners to think over the burning issues of present era and make efforts for preserving our ethics. The poets who participated in the Kavi Sammelan included Chanchal Sharma, Zakir Khaqee, Harpreet Kour, Sunil Sharma, Anita Langoo, Romesh Rahi, Sheikh Mohd Kalyan, Raj Paul Singh Mastana, Nargis Sitara, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Yogita Yadav, Surinder Neer, Parvez Malik, Bishan Singh Dardi, Brij Mohan, Javed Rahi, Hardev Singh Rehbar, Lalit Sharma, Vijaya Thakur, Yash Paul Yash, Liakat Jafri, Mohan Singh, Anand Swroop Anjum, Shakunt Deep Mala, Sham Talib, Bal Krishan Bhounra, Ameen Banihali, Prof. Raj Kumar, K. K. Shakir, Kripal Singh Kasali, Pritpal Singh Betab and Vidya Rattan Aarsi. Welcoming the poets and the participants, Shabnum spelled out the efforts being made by the Information Department to promote the culture and languages of the state in a correlated manner. He said that literary organizations of the state were coming forward for a wholehearted and sincere cooperation to the Information Department in this regard. Thanking the participating poets, Cultural Officer Afshan Masood said that it was the endeavour of the cultural wing of the Information Department to bring the literary luminaries and poets on a common platform in collaboration with the literary organization and some NGOs. Appreciating the efforts of Information Department, Nami Dogri Sanstha and Manavi prakashan publishers for holding multilingual Kavi Sammelan . S S Anand Lehar said that such meets provide a common place to poets and writers for demonstrating their literary potential, mesmerize the audience and striving for promotion of culture and languages. As a gesture of gratitude, the poets were honoured with cash prizes and mementoes.
