Sunny Nanda leads J&K team to 35th World Speed Ball Championship in Egypt

JAMMU, Oct 23: Sunny Nanda, a renowned world champion player, is leading the Jammu and Kashmir speed ball team to the 35th World Speed Ball Championship, scheduled from October 30 to November 2, 2024, in Egypt. The championship is hosted by the Egyptian Speed Ball Federation, recognized by the Egyptian Olympic Committee under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Egypt.
During a press conference, Nanda announced that this is the first time in history that eight players from J&K are participating in a world championship in Egypt. The team is divided into junior and senior wings, with six players from various schools in J&K, including:
Miss Aryana Choudhary (Delhi Public School, Kathua)
Master Ekam Singh (Katra Public School, Kathua)
Rehaan (Jammu Sankriti School)
Master Manvendra Sinh (Jammu Sankriti School, Kathua)
Master Ekjyot Singh (Katra Public School, Kathua)
Master Ranveer Verma (Jammu Sankriti School)
Additionally, Master Sahil Janjua and Sunny Nanda will compete in the open senior men's doubles and super solo categories. The team is representing the J&K Sports Speed Ball Association, recognized by the J&K Olympic Association, and consists of national gold medalists in their respective categories. Players who win gold at this championship will be sponsored by the SSB Federation of India for the next World Speed Ball Championship in Poland.
Rev. Fr. Shaiju Chacko, Director of Jammu-Srinagar Education Society, was the chief guest at the press conference. He extended his best wishes to the team, hoping they would bring laurels to India and the J&K Sports Speed Ball State Association. Members, including Pooja Malhotra (Founder Patron) and Ashu Peter (President, All J&K Christian Sabha), also expressed their support and good luck to the contingent. Malhotra further announced that she has sponsored all expenses for Coach Sunny Nanda.
