SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, laid the foundation stone for a new grand mosque at Jenab Sahib Soura and a double-storeyed sanitary complex for females at Dargah Hazratbal.
The mosque will feature high-tech construction and was designed in consultation with local residents. Following the ceremony, Dr. Andrabi thanked the community for their support and emphasized that the old mosque was unsafe, leading to the demand for the new structure.
She highlighted that transparency in the Board's operations has facilitated continuous infrastructure development at various shrines over the past two and a half years. The new sanitary complex aims to address the shortage of facilities for women at the shrine. Dr. Andrabi assured that both projects would be completed within the specified timeframe. She also convened a meeting with Waqf Board staff to discuss future projects and their progress, reiterating that "transparency in the Board has fetched magical results." |
