Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30- The 1st Governing Body meeting of Food Craft Institute (FCI), Jammu was held Monday under the Chairmanship of Secretary, Tourism, Tanveer Jehan. The FCI is temporarily functioning from Yatri Nawas, near Baghwati Nagar. Earlier, a three-month Certificate Course in Housekeeping was also inaugurated by Director, Administration and Finance, NCHMCT, New Delhi, K. K. Saraf. Addressing the Board Members, Secretary Tourism underscored the need for completion of all codal formalities as outlined by Union Ministry of Tourism for setting up of a full-fledged FCI at Jammu. She said Food Craft Institute was already sanctioned by the Central government at a cost of Rs. 4.83 crore. Asking youth to take up self-employment ventures in tourism sector in a big way, Jehan said the purpose for establishment of such Institute at the winter capital is to impart varied training courses in food management to the educated youth of the State so that they earn their livelihood honourably. She directed the concerned authorities to come up with innovative proposals for making the Institute viable and purposeful, besides building its own infrastructure well in time. The meeting also discussed in detail various issues related to building of infrastructure for FCI, besides introduction of other food management courses at the institute. Besides, Saraf, the meeting was also attended by Members, MD, JKTDC, M. Y. Qadri, Director Tourism, Jammu, S. M. Sahni, Principal, IHM, Srinagar, M. Srivastava, General Manager, ITDC, Jammu, Mr. Sanjay Mehta, HoD, Food Science Government Degree College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Hemle Aggarwal and Principal, FCI, Jammu Jyoti Bhathi.
