JAMMU, Oct 28: The 57th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre, took place today at the Institutional Complex in Channi Himmat. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Bhawna Sharma, FIE, Chairman of the Jammu Local Centre, and attended by numerous Corporate Members from various engineering disciplines.
Er. Sachin Tickoo, Honorary Secretary, welcomed attendees and presented the Annual Report for 2023-2024, highlighting the Centre's activities, including seminars and events commemorating various statutory days. The audited accounts were presented and approved by the members.
Elections for the Committee for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 sessions were announced, with Er. Anil Verma, FIE, elected as the new Chairman, and Er. Avneet Gupta, MIE, as the new Honorary Secretary.
In her closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Bhawna Sharma expressed gratitude to the outgoing committee and voiced confidence that the new committee would elevate the institution further. The newly elected committee includes notable members such as Er. Sudhir Sethi, FIE, and Er. P. K. Nanda, FIE, among others, reflecting a strong leadership dedicated to advancing engineering in the region.
Er. Anil Verma, the new Chairman, is an Executive Engineer in the Power Development Department, while Er. Avneet Gupta also serves as an Executive Engineer within the same department.
