Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 28: FICCI FLO JKL, in partnership with iConcept and the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), launched a heartfelt tree plantation drive at Government School, Barui, Akhnoor, as part of their pledge to plant 1,000 trees in memory of Braveheart Martyrs. This initiative, which involves plantation by Veer Naris, aims to honor soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, ensuring their legacy remains alive.
In this phase, 100 trees were planted, with saplings generously provided by iConcept. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL, expressed her profound gratitude to the Veer Naris (war widows) for the sacrifice of their loved ones. "This tree plantation is a humble gesture to honor our martyrs and salute their families. Planting trees in their memory by the Veer Naris ensures their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we remain eternally grateful," she said.
Gupta extended special thanks to Mrs. Tanisha Pallan, Director of iConcept, for her generous contribution to the project. She also expressed appreciation to Brigadier Vinay Sharma, Commander of the 10 Artillery Brigade, and Major Joshi for their support in facilitating the event. Gratitude was further conveyed to Vijay Kumar, Principal of Government High School, Barui, and Rashpal Sharma, Sarpanch of Barui Village, for their involvement. AWWA's role in bringing this initiative to fruition was also acknowledged.
The event included a patriotic cultural performance by schoolgirl students, featuring songs and dances that stirred a sense of nationalism. Their performances inspired attendees and created a sense of pride. After the program, children received refreshment boxes and were encouraged to pursue careers in the armed forces to serve the country with dedication.
In a symbolic and emotional moment, the Veer Naris planted trees, each marked with a placard displaying the name of the martyr in whose honor it was planted. To recognize their sacrifices and with Diwali approaching, each Veer Nari was felicitated with a shawl, a memento of appreciation, and a box of sweets as a token of gratitude.
FICCI FLO JKL members present at the event included Nandita Bajaj (Joint Executive Secretary), Minu Chawla, Deepti Gandotra, and Shipra Aggarwal. The event concluded with a shared sense of unity and purpose as participants pledged to keep the spirit of the martyrs alive.
