Training Program on Soil Health Management concludes in Kathua

KATHUA, Oct 30: Divisional Soil Survey Scheme under Directorate of Agriculture Production and Farmer's Welfare, Jammu, conducted a Two Days Training Programme on Soil Health Management for 50 no. of Farmers/Rural Youth of District Kathua at Village Chhan MaurianTehsil Hiranagar on 29th & 30thOctober 2024.
Training Programme was part of 'Capacity Building' Component of HADP Project J&K Soil and Land Resources Information Systems for Planning and Soil Health Management (JKSLRI) for the Year 2024-25.
On first day, Training Programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble MLA Hiranagar Adv Vijay Kumar Sharma. Addressing the gathering Hon'able MLA asked the farmers to adopt latest techniques in farming and take maximum benefit from projects under HADP Scheme. He also emphasised the need for integrated farming and asked the farmers to adopt dairy farming, Mushroom cultivation and apiculture along with crop production.
Suresh Kumar Khajuria, Divisional Soil Survey Officer Jammu welcomed Hon'ble MLA Hiranagar Adv Vijay Kumar Sharma, participant Farmers and Resource persons in the Training Programme. Sh Sanjeev Rai Gupta Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua made the farmers aware about Govt Schemes being implemented by Department of Agriculture in Kathua District and requested the farmers to take benefit from these schemes. Dr Vishal Sharma Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kender (SKUAST-J) Kathua gave presentation on the topic 'Sustainable Soil Health Management'. Dr Aman Jyoti Sharma Agriculture Chemist from Directorate of Agriculture Jammu gave presentation on the topic 'Judicious use of Fertilizers'.
On second day, Sh suresh Kumar Khajuria Divisional Soil Survey Officer made a presentation on 'Physical properties of Soils and their importance in crop production'. Dr Neeraj Rajwal gave detailed presentation on Soil Health Card Scheme in Jammu division. Dr Aadil Rashid ASSO made presentation on topic 'Land Capability Classification'. Sh Anil Kumar Sharma Asst. Soil Chemist Kathua presented status of Soil Health Card Scheme Kathua District. Sh Kuldeep Raj SMS-II Kathua delivered lecture on Integrated Nutrient Management. Participation certificates and Soil sampling Kits were distributed among the participant farmers on concluding day.
Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr Aadil Rashid Asstt Soil Survey Officer. Programme was coordinated by Sh Rajeev Katoch, Programme Officer from Office of the Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu.
