GDC Thannamandi hosts seminar, poster competition

THANNAMANDI, Oct 30: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi in collaboration with Tehsil Treasury office Thannamandi organized an intra-College seminar cum poster making competition as part of ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week observance here today.
An intra-College Seminar and a Poster making Competition organized on the theme "Culture of Integrity for Nation's Prosperity" under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of College in which Bagh Hussain, Tehsil Treasury Officer Thannamandi was special Guest. Dr. Ashaq Malik, IQAC Co-ordinator and Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Head, Department of Geography in College co-ordinated the program.
Kamran Mumtaz of B.Sc 5th Sem stood first whereas Laiba Fatima and Ateeqa Fatima of B.A 1st Sem bagged 2nd and 3rd position in the seminar respectively. Dr. Nazar Ul Islam, Head, Department of Islamic Studies, Dr. Junaid Ahmed, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences and Prof. Rumy Dar, Head, Department of English in College were judges in the intra-college seminar.
In the poster making competition, Alia Fatima, B.A 3rd Sem., and Irtaqa Naik and Sultana Kouser, B. Sc 3rd Sem. shared first prize whereas Sanam Kouser, B. Sc 3rd sem, and Uzma Maqsood, B.Sc 5th, won 2nd Prize. Kehkashan Rozeen of B.Sc 5th sem & Sabha Shaheen of BA 5th Sem bagged 3rd prize in the poster making competition that was coordinated by Prof. Rumy Dar and Dr. Nagina Kouser. The competition was judged by Dr. Sheraz Ahmed, Head Dept. of Zoology and staff secretary of the college, Prof Supriya Gupta HOD Computer Applications and Prof. Fatima Parveen from Department of Chemistry.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Farooq Ahmed emphasized upon the youth and students to stick with supreme principles of honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability to lead a quality life and help shaping healthy society and nation at large. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing team for meticulously holding a series of activities like poster making, essay writing, quiz competition, rally and signature campaign besides seminar to raise awareness about the perils of corruption and how to deracinate this menace from the roots. Bagh Hussain also spoke on the occasion and said that let the change start from self.
Earlier, Dr. Ashaq Malik, introduced the audience about the essence of observing the vigilance awareness week, and detailed about series of activities being organized by the college to observe this Vigilance Awareness week. Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat and Laiba Fatima conducted the proceedings of the programme whereas Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone presented the formal vote of thanks.
