| Poll disruptive plans from across LoC will be foiled: CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, MAR 30 Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today feared that attempts could be made from across the border and LoC to disrupt Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir but he asserted that the same would be foiled.
"We are well aware of the threat that is posed to elections. I am reviewing the situation on a regular basis with both of my security advisors (GOCs of Srinagar and Jammu Corps of Army) and taking whatever steps are necessary," Omar Abdullah told reporters immediately after reaching here with a two-day schedule of tours and meetings.
"We do understand that attempts would be made to disrupt the elections and we will do everything possible to render those attempts unsuccessful," he added.
Noting that elections have always been an attractive target for disruptive elements, he said, "We will do everything possible to recreate an environment that was available to both candidates and voters during the recently held assembly elections."
On infiltration from across the border, Mr. Abdullah said, "Infiltration at this time of the season is nothing new. Whenever snow starts melting after winter, infiltration attempts increase. Our aim is to scuttle the attempts on the Line of Control itself." |
