Two-Day Photo Exhibition, Awareness Drive

Kishtwar, Nov 3: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Field Office, Doda Launches a two-day photo exhibition on 3rd November, 2024 at Government Degree College Kishtwar. The event, aimed at educating the public about India’s newly enacted criminal laws and other major National initiatives, drew considerable interest from Stakeholders. students, local residents, and officials.
The inaugural event was graced by Senior Superintendent of police, Kishtwar Sh. Abdul Qyoom, who was the Chief Guest, inaugurated the exhibition with insights on India’s reformed legal structure. Distinguished group of officers from the Jammu & Kashmir Police Department S. P Operations Sh. N.A. Khawaja attended as the Guest of Honour and Dy S. P Sh. Sajjad Khan was the Special Guest.
The exhibition spotlighted three significant legislative reforms, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), replacing the Indian Penal Code of 1860, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), replacing the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1973, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), replacing the Indian Evidence Act of 1872.
In addition to these laws, the exhibition covered important national initiatives & Flagship programmes of Government of India, including Poshan Abhiyan, Swachhta Hi Seva Phase-2, Mission LiFE, International Film Festival of India, and Creative Minds of Tomorrow.
Speaking at the event, S. S. P Sh. Abdul Qyoom emphasized the need for public understanding of these new laws, stating, “These reforms are intended to make justice accessible, fair, and prompt for all citizens. Awareness initiatives like this. play a crucial role in ensuring people know their rights and responsibilities under the new system.” “The legal reforms reflect India’s commitment to modernizing its justice system, and this exhibition organized by Central Bureau of Communication, provides an excellent platform to make the public aware of these changes and encourage a lawful, orderly society.” He gave a brief on other sponsored schemes also viz. Poshan Abhiyan, Swachhta Hi Seva Phase-2, Mission Life.
The event saw participation from the NCC and NSS wings of Govt Degree College Kishtwar, under the guidance of Programme Officer Prof. Esar-ul-Ayub and Dr. Tabassum, CTO NCC. in collaboration with Central Bureau of Communication, Sh. Gurnam Singh, In-charge CBC Udhampur, provided a detailed overview of CBC’s ongoing efforts, Sh. Singh, speaking on behalf of the CBC, highlighted, “Our goal is to foster an informed and legally aware society. These exhibitions help bridge the gap between policy and public understanding, especially regarding significant legal changes.”
Extending his gratitude during the vote of thanks Sh. Vikram Uppal highlighted the aims, objectives and importance of such interactive programmes which are directly linked with the general masses.
He also thanked the district administration, J&K Police, JKAP, Government Degree College, ITI and all other departments for extending their Support, Coordination and Cooperation to make the inauguration a grand success.
The people of Kishtwar are encouraged to visit the exhibition, which will continue until the concluding ceremony tomorrow, 4th November 2024.
