Kishtwar prepares for Panchayat Voter Roll Revision

KISHTWAR, Nov 4: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO)/Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Monday convened a meeting to discuss the preparations for Special Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll in District Kishtwar.
This revision, with January 1, 2025 as the qualifying date, aims to come up with an accurate and up-to-date Panchayat electoral roll to support a transparent and fair democratic process at the grassroots level.
The DPEO discussed key stages of the revision process, which include adding new eligible voters, updating voter information, and removing ineligible entries. Officers were directed to prioritize accuracy and efficiency in verifying entries and to conduct outreach to inform citizens of their right to participate in the democratic process.
The meeting emphasized the importance of engaging local communities and ensuring that eligible residents, especially those newly eligible, are registered and able to exercise their voting rights. The officials were further asked to promptly address any discrepancies or grievances that may arise.
The Special Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll with take off with Publication of Draft on November 11, 2024, period for filing Claims and Objections (additions, deletions, corrections, transpositions) from November 11, 2024, to December 9, 2024, holding of Special Camps from November 16, 2024, to December 1, 2024, Disposal of Claims and Objections by December 23, 2024, Final Publication of Panchayat Electoral Roll 2024 on January 6, 2025.
The meeting was attended by Dy. DEO/ACR Kishtwar Idrees Lone, SDM Marwah, Mohd. Ashraf, SDM Chatroo Nayeem Ul Rehman, ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh,all BDOs(AERO's at Block Level) Election NT, besides other concerned staff from various departments.
