Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 4: The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit, led by President Manish Sahni, held a protest demanding that Jammu be declared the permanent capital of Jammu & Kashmir. The protest, staged at the Maharaja Hari Singh statue site, saw Shiv Sena members carrying placards with slogans such as "Declare Jammu as permanent capital" and "Give Jammu its right."
Manish Sahni emphasized that the identity, business, and cultural heritage of Jammu are at risk, citing the end of the "Darbar Move" tradition, which allowed Jammu and Srinagar to share capital status. He criticized the BJP for neglecting Jammu's interests, despite its longstanding governance at the center.
Sahni also called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to raise this demand in the ongoing Assembly session, stressing that Jammu's status as the permanent capital would benefit the region's security and economy. He urged local business leaders and residents to support the movement, warning of a larger mobilization if their demands are ignored.
Shiv Sena leaders, including Jai Bharat, Balwant Singh, and Rajesh Jandial, joined the protest, echoing the call for Jammu's recognition as the permanent capital.
