J&K police begin training on Law Enforcement, Transgender Rights

UDHAMPUR, Nov 4: Two courses viz Two weeks refresher course for the Gazetted Officers of J&K Police and TOT program on Transgender Persons (Protections Rights) Act 2020 sponsored by NISD New Delhi commenced today on 04.11.2024 in which 21 Dy.SsP reported to undergo the course. Agenda of the GO's Refresher course is inclusive of the priorities flagged by MHA in the context of present and future challenges. The eminent speakers including, Dr. Rashi Taggar, Dr. Sarita Sood, Dr. Savita Nayyar, Department of Law University of Jammu, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS DIG U/R Range, Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, SSP, Central Jail Kashmir, Dr. Ekta Manhas, Dr. Ranjan Sharma, Department of Strategic and Regional Studies, Ellora Puri Prof. Department of Political Science Jammu University and faculty from Cyber Cell Jammu have been invited to deliver lectures to the participants and will share their valuable experiences and knowledge.
An inaugural function was organized, Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director SKPA is the chief guest on the occasion. Graib Dass highlighted the role of supervisory officers in the department and ensured the trainee officers that SKPA has the capacity to impart training to the Police Officers of J&K Police to face future challenges in view of technology evaluation viz-a-viz other challenges of Cybercrime, and various other law and order situation. He laid emphasize on practical approach to resolve issues of Law and Order rather than to use force. He believes that handling of Law and Order situation using excessive face is a failure, whereas other means of handling the situation peacefully is a reflection of good leadership in a police. He also stressed upon to adopt best Indian Structure of Police and expressed the needs to upskills the techniques to tackle crimes in virtual space, investigation skills necessary for ensuring convictions, handling of Law order situation, the growing threats to internal security and preparedness necessary for J&K Police to tackle all the emerging challenges. He also emphasized on the role of Police which is very sensitive in the society and as such as supervisory police officer should have a concept of good leadership and should have kind approach towards general public. He pointed out that development and security environment are interrelated. He encouraged the participants that training enhances knowledge, skill and attitude, same should be cherished. He advised them to gain maximum while attending the course and hope for interactive sessions.
However, TOT program on Transgender Persons (Protections Rights) Act 2020 sponsored by NISD New Delhi SKPA also inaugurated in which 28 officers/officials including 08 civil department (i.e. 05 District Social Welfare officer and 03 member of different NGOs) are participating in the said training progrmme. The inaugural functions were also attended by the Rajesh Bali, IPS, SSP, Dy. Director, other officers and Staff of the Academy. The course GO's Refresher is being coordinated by Rakesh Sambyal assisted by SI Dhian Singh and TOT program on Transgender Persons (Protections Rights) Act 2020 is also coordinated by Inspr. Chander Mohan assisted by HC Sanjay Kumar.
