Kathua Police conducts mega enforcement drive during Diwali

JAMMU, Nov 5: In a bid to ensure a safe and secure Diwali celebration, the J&K Police Kathua launched a comprehensive enforcement drive over a 10-day period, focusing on organized crime across the district. This initiative resulted in the registration of 13 FIRs and the arrest of 36 individuals for various offenses related to the NDPS Act, Excise Act, Gambling Act, and PCA.
Approximately 124.86 grams of heroin and 908 grams of poppy straw were seized, leading to the arrest of 7 individuals under the NDPS Act across four FIRs in Police Stations Kathua, Lakhanpur, and Billawar.
A total of 37 bottles of JK Excise whisky and 20 liters of illicit liquor were confiscated. Four individuals were arrested under the Excise Act, and 500 liters of lahan were destroyed. Additionally, 7 arrests were made under various sections (126/170/129/BNSS) in Police Station Kathua.
The police arrested 20 individuals under the Gambling Act at locations including Drabal, Bani, and Kathua, recovering cash amounting to ?93,450.
The police foiled a bid to smuggle bovines, rescuing 71 animals, seizing 6 vehicles, and registering 6 FIRs, with 4 individuals arrested in connection to the smuggling.
This drive underscores the commitment of the J&K Police Kathua to uphold law and order, particularly during festive seasons. The police department urges the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal activities to ensure the safety of the community.
