National Conference celebrates passing of resolution in J&K Assembly

JAMMU, Nov 6: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC) today celebrated the passing of resolution in J&K Assembly for restoration of special Status to J&K. The resolution was moved by Surinder Choudhary Deputy Chief Minister and Second by Sakina Masood Itoo Cabinet Minister and passed in the Assembly with great majority. In this regards, the celebrations were held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu which was attended by senior leaders, party members, and supporters who expressed their support for the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, NC Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta praised Surinder Choudhary's bold move supported by Education Minister Sakina Masood Ittoo and passed the resolution in the Assembly with heavy majority, stating, "This resolution is a step towards reversing the injustice done on August 5, 2019, as it witnessed the unilateral revocation of our special status. Today's resolution rekindles hope for the people of J&K, especially in securing our land and job rights, which are at risk without special protections."
Rattan Lal Gupta extended his heartfelt congratulations to Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Dy CM Surinder Choudhary acknowledging their steadfast commitment to the cause of J&K's the restoration of special status of J&K. He also reiterated the NC's unwavering stand on the restoration of J&K's special status and statehood, emphasizing that these measures are vital for preserving the unique identity and interests of the people of the region.
The Provincial President pointed out that other states, including Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, benefit from special protections, and even Andhra Pradesh is actively pursuing special status. "Jammu & Kashmir is in urgent need of similar protections to safeguard its resources and shield itself from exploitative elements, such as the liquor mafia, mining mafia, and contractors from outside," he stated.
Rattan Lal Gupta called upon all citizens and political entities to unite for the rightful restoration of J&K's special status. He reaffirmed that the National Conference remains committed to advocating for the aspirations of J&K's people, promising that the party will continue to fight for justice, the dignity of the region's residents and future of the coming generations.
