| CEO imposes ban on sale of books by private schools | | | Sarita Jamwal Udhampur Mar 31- After getting complaints and strong resentment by the parents of the wards studying in local private schools, Chief Education Officer V.R Sharma today imposed ban on sale of books within premises by the private school. Issuing a order in this regard, the CEO warned private schools to desist from such practice in future and if any educational institution was found violating the order he shall face de- recognition also Terming educational institutions as temples, he added that no one shall be forced to buy books from schools. He said that he has also constituted a two- member committee in this regard which shall inspect all the private educational institutions and submit report within one week with specific recommendations and action against those found selling books within the school or forcing parents to buy books from the school. Chief Education Officer has taken this strong action only after the people showed grave resentment against the educational institutions forcing the students to buy text books from the schools. Meanwhile, majority of parents have welcomed this move of CEO and urged the concerned authorities to implement the order in letter and spirit. Welcoming the step local NGO SRCO vice president Parvesh Kumar and IDHRO NGO Secretary Poonam Bakshi hoped that it will definitively give relief to the parents.
