| Local chapter of ISCA inaugurated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 31-Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), local Chapter, was today inaugurated by Prof. Y. R. Malhotra former Vice Chancellor University of Jammu at function held in the seminar hall of the department of Zoology University of Jammu, in presence of a galaxy of scientists from various disciplines of sciences and life members of the Indian Science Congress Association.
In the inaugural address Prof. Malhotra highlighted the role of popularization of science in the service of humanity. He desired the Jammu Local Chapter to undertake various activities that may link the lab scientists, the planners and the society so as to make proper use of scientific developments and their extensions.
The convener of the Chapter Prof. M. K. Jyoti welcomed the guests and apprised the audience of the history, need and activities of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA). He said ISCA was established by Prof. J.L. Simonsen and Prof. P.S. MC Mohan on the lines of British Association for advancement of science with objectives to promote the cause of science in India, to hold and annual congress, to publish proceeding, Journals and transactions and to popularize science.
Prof. Verjeshver Verma, Dean, faculty of Biotechnology, SMVDU who was guest of honour delivered lecture on Bioinformatics and Society.
Prof. Subash Gupta, Head, Department of Zoology and Dean, Life Sciences while speaking on the occasion gave assurance for all sorts of help and assistance by the department as and when required.
Prof. N.K. Tripathi, President, Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) and an active researcher presented the vote of thanks.
