| APMCC to organize Gangbal, Harmukt Ganga yatra on June 1 | | Vedic Yajnya to be performed after 100 years | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 31- All Parties Migrant Co-ordination Committee (APMCC), which has pioneered the reopening of temple movement, is all set organize yet another grand Yajnya at Gangbal (Harmukt Ganga) the historical religious place of Kashmiri Pandits situated under the foothills of Harmukt range in North-East of Kashmir at the height of 12000 feet, after more than 100 years. According to the APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit, the Yajnya is being organized in continuity with its mission to reopen all the historical religious places of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashyap Meru Peeth to show the existence of Kashmiri Pandits and save their cultural and religious history. Vinod said that the pilgrimage which would take place after more than hundred years in Ganderbal district would be organized on June 1, 2009 to perform Vedic Yajnya and immersion of Pinds’ in the holy water of Ganges (Harmukt Ganga) for the peace of the departed souls of the community. Giving details of the program the spokesman of the APMCC Sameer Raina said that the Yatra is in continuation with the last years Naran Naag Yatra which was also performed for the first time in recent history where more than 300 KPs participated. He said in ancient times Naraan Nag used to be the base camp for the Gangbal Yatra adding while last year was the beginning, this year the Vedic Yajnya would take place exactly on the spot where it used to be performed some hundreds years before. Giving details of the program Raina said that the Yatra would depart from Jammu on May 31 and reach Srinagar the same Day. On June 1, the Yatra would leave Srinagar for Naraan Naag and thereafter a 6-hour journey on foot would begin up to Gangbal. The Vedic Yajnya by a renowned Kashmiri Pandit Brahmin would start at 6 pm on June 1 and Puran Ahuti would be on June 2 at 11.30 am after which the Yatra would come back to Srinagar. He has asked the devotee Kashmiri Pandits to get themselves registered as soon as possible for which the required information would be published in newspapers very soon. Gangbal situated in the hills of Harmukh range in North East of Kashmir Valley is also the abode of Lord Shiva from whose hair locks (Jattas), the holy Ganga flows down forming a divine lake. Gangbal is also called Harmukut Ganga and is believed that this place is pious as Haridwar.
