| SPCB releases directory of Eco-clubs in J&K | | | Early Times report Jammu Mar 31-Chairman State Pollution Control Board, Dr C M Seth today released three books at a function held here today The books released include Water Quality Monitoring of Tawi River, Ecological Study of Katra area and a directory of Eco-clubs in J&K. These books have been published to provide information regarding ecological issues for use by students, academicians and other stake holders. Speaking on the occasion, Seth said that PCB with the help of world wide fund for Nature India is implementing National Green Corps Scheme in the state. This scheme popularly known as NGC is a national programme launched by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India aims to involve the masses across the country in an environment conservation movement that starts from school children and moves on to include society and ultimately the decision makers. Releasing the Directory of Eco-clubs in J&K he informed that this would help provide useful information to all the school and other agencies, who are engaged in the successful implementation of national mission in the state. SPCB is giving various incentives for promoting rain water harvesting, waste paper recycling, solar water heating system herbal garden and vermin-composting etc in the schools with the help of education department.
