GDC Thannamandi organizes Indoor Sports Activities

THANNAMANDI, Nov 8: Government Degree College Thannamandi organized indoor sports activities under the banner of Nashamukht Bharat Abhiyan. The event was organised under the able guidence of Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed. The college organised series of indoor sports activities including Weight-lifting, Caramboard, Chess, Armpowers, Gymnasium and Table-tennis to inspire and explore the crucial role of youth in the development of a strong and morally grounded nation. The objective of organising such events was to promote physical fitness, team work and a platform for students to showcase their sporting talents and also to keep them away from drugs and other activities which are harmful for the society as a whole.
The event organised in the Physical education department of the college under the supervision of Physical Director Rakesh Puri and Dr. Shiraz Ahmed Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club of the college. In the event students enthusiastically participated in the various indoor sports activites where Rehan Zakir, Sajad Qayoom, Saiyam Ahmed and Saqib Malik of semester first participated in the weight-lifting whereas Mehvish Dar, Ifra Mir, Muskan Jabeen and Afsana Kouser has been participated in caramboard competition. In the chess competition Arbab Ali and Danish Mehmood from boys wing and Mehvish Dar and Muskan Jabeen from girls wing participated. Under the competition of Table Tennis,Shoulder powers and Armpowers Danish Mehmood, Arbab Ali, Murtaza Alam,Akhlaq Ahmed, Shaista Kouser and Sanam Naz participated.
Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Head Department of History also highlighted the impotance of sports activities in day to day life and emphasised that such activities must be organise to eradicate the mennace of drugs from the society. Earlier, Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club of the College, welcomed all the esteemed faculty and students for participation in this event. Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of the College congratulated to all the participating students and faculty memebers for organising such a wonderful events and also focussed on the importance of such sports actievitis for the overall development of the students. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty member. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof. Altaf Hussain, Dr. Junaid Ahmed, Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat.
