CB Completes Investigation in Rs. 84 Lakh Embezzlement Case

Jammu, Nov 9: The Crime Branch has successfully completed its investigation into an Rs. 84 lakh embezzlement and misappropriation case involving a fuel station in Banihal, district Ramban.
A challan has been produced in the court for judicial determination.
The accused in the case have been identified as Mohd Ashraf Rather, son of Gulam Rasool Rather, a resident of Tangmarg, Baramula, and Aftab Ahmad Bhat, son of Gulam Mohd Bhat, a resident of Thather, Banihal.
The case was initially registered at Police Station Banihal following a complaint from Javed Ahmad Wani, the owner of Gousia Filling Station in Banihal. Wani accused the station’s manager, Mohd Ashraf Rather, and co-manager, Aftab Ahmad Bhat, of criminal breach of trust, embezzlement, misappropriation, and cheating.
The investigation, which was transferred to the Crime Branch Jammu by the Police Headquarters (PHQ), revealed that the two accused had been involved in the financial misappropriation over several years. Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the investigation has been completed, and offences under sections 408, 120-B, and 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) have been made out against the accused.
The challan, which includes five parts organized year-wise, has now been submitted to the Ld. Court of JMIC Banihal for judicial proceedings.
