DLSA observes Legal Services Day with Awareness Programme

KISHTWAR, Nov 10: Under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Kishtwar, today celebrated the Legal Services Day and with the objective of generating awareness on Legal Services Authorities and Legal Services, also organized an awareness programme at Conference Hall, District Court Complex, Kishtwar.
The programme was inaugurated by Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Kishtwar.
Advocate Naveed Khurshid, Deputy Chief, LADC, Adv. Ms. Anjali Gulati, Adv. Farhat Nabi, Panel lawyer were the resource persons in the programme.
Manjeet Singh Manhas emphasized that it is our duty to ensure that every person has access to justice. He highlighted the significance of Legal Services Day, observed on November 9th, which reminds us of the foundations laid by the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987.
He also gave an overview of the Legal Aid and Services provided by the DLSA Kishtwar.
Adv. Naveed Khurshid gave an overview of the LADC scheme and legal services provided in criminal matters.
Adv. Anjali Gulati shared the background, structure and scope of Legal Services Authorities. Adv. Farhat Nabi highlighted the various resources of DLSA and kinds of legal services provided by DLSA.
A prize distribution ceremony was also organized, wherein students among others were awarded prizes and certificates.
Among the participants were members of the JJB Kishtwar, Chairperson and Members of CWC Kishtwar, Prosecuting Officers, Superintendent Distt. Jail, Kishtwar, teachers nominated by the CEO Kishtwar, students, panel lawyers and members of the bar. Slahuddin Ahmed, Sub Judge/Secretary, DSLA Kishtwar conducted the proceedings of the programme.
