GDCW Kathua celebrates National Education Day

JAMMU, Nov 11: The Department of Education, Govt. Degree College for Women, Kathua, celebrated National Education Day in honor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's birth anniversary under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Savi Behl, who served as the event's chief guest. The program began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and floral tributes to Azad, commemorating his contributions to India's education sector.
Five students-Diya, Shivani, Shivangi, Ranju, and Sohani-shared their insights on Azad's legacy and impact on education, receiving appreciation from both students and faculty. Principal Dr. Savi Behl delivered an inspiring speech honoring the legacy of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. She highlighted Azad's pivotal role in shaping modern India's education system and emphasized his vision for accessible education for all, regardless of social or economic background. She further urged students to follow Azad's ideals, stressing the importance of dedication to learning and the need to uphold the values of knowledge and progress he championed.
She also praised the Department of Education for organizing the event and commended Dr. Rachna for her leadership in making the program successful.
Senior faculty members, including Dr. Seema Jolly, Dr. Inderjeet Kour, Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, and Dr. Babita Mahajan, attended the event, along with around 80 students. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rachna.
