GDC Bishnah students win awards

JAMMU, Nov 11: Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah students achieved remarkable success at the Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition held at the PG Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu, on November 11, 2024. The event, organized by the Punjabi Sahit Sabha to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, featured 25 participants from various colleges across the Jammu region.
The competition was graced by Padma Shree Mohan Singh, the renowned Dogri writer, as the Chief Guest, with Dr. Vikram Singh Sahi, Chief Librarian at the University of Jammu, and S. Ajit Singh Mastana, a prominent Punjabi writer, serving as the judges.
Among the top performers, Mr. Nikhil Lakhotra, a first-semester BA student from GDC Bishnah, secured third place, while Mr. Nitin Lakhotra (BA Semester 1) and Ms. Simran Bhagat (BA Semester 3) received consolation certificates for their excellent performances. Their success reflects the dedication and talent nurtured at the college.
The students were guided by Prof. Shallu Sambyal, Principal of GDC Bishnah, and Dr. Kusum, Head of the Punjabi Department, who supported and mentored them throughout the competition.
This achievement highlights GDC Bishnah's commitment to promoting academic and co-curricular excellence, as well as its focus on celebrating the cultural heritage of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The event was attended by faculty and students from the Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu, and other regional colleges, all praising the competition's organization and the talent showcased by the participants.
