Opening ceremony of district Samba Taekwondo Championships

SAMBA, Nov 12: The District Samba Taekwondo Championships 2024-25 began with an inspiring opening ceremony at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Samba. Organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Samba under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), this two-day championship, scheduled from 12th to 13th November, has drawn around 300 enthusiastic participants from various schools and clubs across District Samba, covering all age groups from Sub-Junior, Cadet, and Junior to Senior.
The event was graced by chief guest Keshav Dutt (DDC Chairman, Samba), accompanied by guest of honour Balwan Singh (Vice Chairman, DDC Samba).
Special guests included Amit Kumar (National Referee & JKTA Coach) and Jagpreet Kour (JKTA Coach), who extended their support and motivation to the athletes.
The championship was led by Rajesh Pangotra (President, Taekwondo Association of District Samba) and Dr. Kanav Mahajan (Secretary, Taekwondo Association of District Samba), Burhan Ud Din Khan (NIS Taekwondo Coach & Executive Member, JKTA) serving as the Observer appointed by the J&K Taekwondo Association.
The organizing committee was headed by Organizing Secretary Pankaj Kumar, with a skilled technical team managing the event's smooth execution. Key members included Salvi Saini, Khushboo Salaria, Sonika Choudhary, Mehak Sharma, Suhana Salathia, Sunmeet Kour, Taruna, Paridhi, Harvinder, Amit Kumar, Saksham, Harish Singh, Baksheesh Singh, Harhveer Singh, Jlikjot Singh, Krish, Devansh, and Amit Jamwal.
The medalists of the District Samba Taekwondo Championships will have the honor of representing District Samba at the upcoming 27th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2024-25, showcasing their talent at the state level.
The President of the Taekwondo Association of District Samba expressed sincere gratitude to the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council for their continued support and encouragement, which has been instrumental in promoting Taekwondo and nurturing young talent in the region.
