11/12/2024 10:13:52 PM
Early Times Report

Doda, Nov 12: In a bid to ensure the safety and protection of non-local employees and workers engaged in road infrastructure development projects in District Doda, the District Police conducted a detailed review of the security arrangements for non-local colonies and construction sites in the Khellani area.
Shakeel Rehman Bhat-JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Headquarters Doda, along with the In-Charge Police Post (IC PP) Khellani, visited the construction sites and interacted with the Project Manager of the ongoing tunnel construction projects.
The security review focused on various aspects of safeguarding the workers and the construction areas.
The officials inspected the security arrangements at the tunnel sites and discussed potential improvements to ensure comprehensive protection for non-local workers. They emphasized the need for the construction company to upgrade security infrastructure at both the eastern and western terminals of the tunnel.
This includes proper guarding of the construction sites, the installation of CCTV cameras, siren alarm systems, and fencing around the labor and employee colonies.
Additionally, the height of the fences was recommended to be raised for enhanced security.
The police officials reassured that similar security measures are already in place at other project sites in Goha Marmat, Bhaderwah, Karara, and Thathri areas, where non-local workers are also engaged.
Regular visits are being made by police officers to ensure the ongoing safety and security of workers, particularly in light of the critical role these workers play in the region’s infrastructure development.
The review meeting underscored the district police's commitment to maintaining a secure environment for all workers involved in the ongoing road infrastructure projects in Doda, ensuring their safety and boosting confidence among the non-local labor force.
