Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 13: A training programme on quality seed production in wheat was successfully conducted at Panchayat Ghar, Sirla, District Reasi, under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Project No. 1 - "Development of Seed and Seed Multiplication Chain." The event was organized by SKUAST Jammu, with the mentorship of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. B. N. Tripathi and led by Dr. Tuhina Dey, Project Coordinator of the HADP initiative.
The programme aimed to equip local agripreneurs with essential skills for producing certified wheat seeds, thereby enhancing agricultural productivity in the region. Key stakeholders, including CAO Reasi, Harbans Singh, and SDAO Reasi, Vinod Khajuria, extended their support for the successful execution of the event. The participants were provided with improved wheat seed kits for the upcoming Rabi season, further ensuring high-quality production practices.
Prominent experts from SKUAST Jammu, including Prof. Anuradha Saha (Agronomy), Prof. Vijay Bahadur Singh (Plant Pathology), and Prof. Rajan Salalia (Entomology), shared their knowledge on seed production techniques, pest management, and plant health. Their valuable insights contributed to the training's success.
The programme also benefited from grassroots-level coordination by Karan Dev Singh, Agriculture Extension Officer, along with his team members Munish Gupta (AEA) and Sunil Kumar (JAEO), who played a pivotal role in engaging the local community.
This initiative underscores the strong collaboration between SKUAST Jammu and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Reasi, to foster sustainable agripreneurship and boost agricultural productivity in the region. The programme not only provided technical expertise but also reinforced the commitment to promoting agricultural development in rural areas.
