JKSCERT concludes three-day orientation programme

JAMMU, Nov 13: The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT), Divisional office Jammu, successfully concluded an impactful three-day orientation programme on the National Professional standards for Teachers (NPST), with effect from 11th to 13th November, designed to elevate pedagogical standards and support educators in fostering an environment of academic excellence.
The programme began with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by Prof. Dr. Sindhu Kapoor Joint Director, JKSCERT Jammu Division along with Coordinator, Academic Unit Heads and others.
A warm welcome address was given by Swarn Singh Jaral, Head Academic Unit -II who set the stage for an enriching journey of professional development and learning.
Following the welcome address, Arti Gupta, Head, Teacher Education Department, introduced the objectives and agenda of the orientation programme, outlined the structured approach designed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge needed to align with NPST. Dr Jyoti Sudan, presented a comprehensive concept note, delving into the key principles and expected outcomes of NPST, elucidating its essential role in aligning teaching practices with national benchmarks.
In her enlightened address, Joint Director SCERT Jammu Division, remarked that the holistic development of a teacher is the main requisite for fostering a thriving educational ecosystem. She emphasised that a teacher's growth, both physically and professionally directly influences the quality of learning.
This comprehensive orientation was attended by thirty participants from ten districts of Jammu Division, representing a wide cross-section of the teaching community.
The total number of ten orientation sessions were enriched by the eminent resource persons, including Dr Jyoti Sudan, Dr. Balgar Singh, Mtr. Shazia Koser, Dr. Sunita Sharma, Amit Sharma, Bindia Bhalwal, Manu Vasudeva, Deepak Kumar and Kavya Sharma. These sessions involved advanced pedagogical discussions, quizzes, Digital Infrastructures, Assessment Tools based on NPST and the Emotional Well-being of teachers enabling participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the standards.
The programme was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Jyoti Sudan and Amit Sharma acted as Associate Coordinator. The entire program was expertly moderated by Manu Vasudeva.
The programme culminated in a formal valedictory function, presided over by Joint Director, SCERT, who lauded the participants' enthusiasm and commitment, emphasising that the knowledge gained through NPST would not only uplift individual practices but also elevate educational standards across the region and encourage them to foster a ripple effect of excellence. Certificates of participations were presented to the attendees.
Dr. Jyoti Sudan, Coordinator, delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all participants, resource persons and organising team, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the programme's success.
